One way to set yourself up for success is by having a routine. In order to have a good day, you must have a good start to your morning which begins with a routine.
1.) Wake Up Early
Waking up as early as possible is the first step. It’s not as hard as it seems. Once you accommodate this habit, it will feel pleasurable instead of painful.
This doesn’t mean cutting hours from your sleep. It means going to bed earlier than you usually do. Most of us know that doctors suggest that the best hours of sleep are from 10 PM to 6-8 AM.
Start by going to bed 15 minutes earlier and waking up 15 minutes earlier each morning in order to reach your optimum schedule gradually.
Successful people know that the time in the morning is essential for their own personal well-being.
2.) Keep Your Room in Order, Make Your Bed
This one-minute quick habit will help you start the day right and cut the temptation of going back to bed. After a long day, getting into a made bed creates a sense of comfort and is a signal to your brain that it is time to go to sleep. It’s a win, win.
3.) Healthy Breakfast
A healthy breakfast consists of nutrient-rich foods and a healthy beverage choice, such as water or tea.
On a side note: do NOT bring breakfast to work! You might feel stressed or hurried to finish, not to mention you might make a mess of your workspace where you need to be productive.
4.) Keep Your Body Hydrated
Drinking fluids is a way to regulate bodily functions and allows you to be more productive at work. Oftentimes our brains mistake hunger for thirst. You may feel hungry, but in reality, it’s your body telling you that you’re dehydrated.
Stick to primarily water or tea. Coffee and pop are great for a short burst of energy, but to rely on them every day is very damaging to one’s health. The more coffee or pop you drink, the higher your tolerance gets, and then the more that is needed to get the same effect, thus creating a vicious cycle. Not to mention that loads of caffeine and sugar will damage your long-term health. However, all of this can be prevented by regularly drinking water!
5.) Workout Routine
A healthy body feeds a healthy mind. A little workout in the morning can change your mood over the day. Successful people understand the benefits of exercising. Exercising boosts energy, prevents high blood pressure, and releases endorphins that create feelings of happiness.
6.) Plan the Day Ahead
Look over your schedule for that day and the upcoming days to see where your obligations lie. Know what you have to accomplish for the day and set daily goals to help you accomplish those tasks.
7.) Journaling
Keeping track of what you did for that day is a great thing to incorporate into your daily routine. Journaling allows your mind to write what it’s feeling, which allows for a clear head, and it helps you keep track of how accomplished you were the day before.
8.) Consider Your Partner
A healthy morning routine includes being accommodating to your partner. If you tend to wake up earlier than your partner to start your routine, make sure your routine is quiet and courteous towards others around you.
9.) Stay Updated
Staying up to speed with what’s going on is another driver for success. Turn on the TV to see the most important morning news. Many successful people like to keep up with what’s going on. They read the newspaper, watch the news, or check their email.
10.) Learn Something New
Learning something you never knew the day before is a key factor to success. Even if it is something little, such as a new function on a keyboard. All the little things you learn will eventually add up to something substantial.
Now you have all the tools to create a morning routine built for success. Choose one of these habits each week to add to your routine. Before you know it you will be utilizing all ten techniques.
